Leia Costuming
Clothing a Star Wars Obsession: Endor Leia: Pants
For the pants, I used Simplicity 7196, view A, with very little alterations, mostly just rearranging assembly steps.

The stripe down the side is made from tan satin ribbon, wrong side up. After sewing the side seams of each pants leg together, I centered the ribbon wrong side up over the seam, and sewed along each edge. I left a few extra inches at the top edge, to continue the stripe up the waist band. Once the stripes were added, everything else was pretty much basic pants assembly. I did have to make an adjustment for fit—instead of using a size smaller like I usually do with patterns, I cut them out according to my actual size. At one point, I tried them on before the waist band was added and realized I had just pulled them on with no problem, and with the zipper still up. Fixing that was just a matter of adjusting the darts and back seam.

Later, after wearing the pants, I tapered the inner legs seams so that there would be less bulk being tucked into the boots.
