Clothing a Star Wars Obsession: Rogue's Overshirt
Making the overshirt was fairly straight forward. Because I couldn't find material with the same or a similar pattern on it—bamboo-like leaves and brightly colored flowers (orchids?) on a burdundy background—I improvised with burgundy cotton interlock and fabric paint. For the pattern, I used the short sleeved version of the cardigan found in Simplicity 9509 (view E).

The leafy design was painted on using FolkArt paint in "Pure Magenta" mixed with textile medium. I freehanded the design rather than use a stencil. It doesn't really look all that much like the pattern on her shirt, but it will do. I may add little dragonfly appliques to take the place of the flowers, but I haven't found any yet that I really like.
